Motion to Approve Contract Modification No. 4 for President Street and General McIntosh Improvements to McLendon Enterprises, Inc. (Event No. 2379)

Recommend approval of Contract Modification No. 4 for the President Street/General McIntosh Improvements project to McLendon Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $73,718.22.

The original contract was for improvements to prevent roadway flooding along this critical evacuation route, located in District 2, to replace and upgrade essential large diameter water and sewer mains along the route, and to facilitate future development of adjacent properties. This contract modification is needed to include items needed for the temporary median at the intersection of East Broad and Broughton Streets, water valve controls, and bridge deck modifications for increase lane safety. Additionally, 21 additional days are being added to the contract completion time.

The original contract was approved by Council on September 18, 2014 in the amount of $28,051,221.68. The total cost of this contract to date, including this modification, is $28,942,039.59. TIC – The Industrial Company was the second low and only other bidder, with a bid in the amount of $32,842,549.00.
