Description

Savannah State University's Annual Homecoming Celebration begins with a parade on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 9:00am.  The parade will take place in downtown Savannah, and be followed by a 3:00pm football game against Albany State University.  The Grand Marshal for this year's parade is Edward "Mickey" Stephens.  Stephens is a native of Savannah and serves in the Georgia House of Representatives. He graduated from Savannah State College with a bachelor of science in industrial arts education and earned a master’s degree in education from Cambridge College, Boston, Massachusetts. As an educator, he worked at Savannah High School, Shuman Middle School and Hubert Middle School. He has also served on the Savannah Chatham County Board of Public Education in District 2 and the Savannah Zoning Board of Appeals. Stephens and his wife Gloria have been married for 47 years. They have two children and three grandchildren.
