Description

Motion to authorize the City Manager to execute Contract Modification No. 2 with Johnson-Laux Construction for the Central Precinct Facility Construction in the amount of $33,262.05.

The original contract was for the construction of a new Central Police Precinct of 13,300 square feet, located at 1710 Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard. This contract modification is needed for various cost increases and reductions due to unforeseen construction conditions and minor scope changes. These increases and reductions include the following:

  • Additional ceiling work
  • Change in exterior signage lettering
  • Additional concrete at the recycling area
  • Additional lighting and fixtures
  • Additional HVAC equipment at the Community Room

The original contract was approved by City Council on March 15, 2018 in the amount of $4,407,306.91.  The total amount of this contract to date, including Contract Modification No. 1 and this modification, is $4,486,711.98.
