27. Authorize the City Manager to Accept a WorkSource Quality Jobs, Equity, Strategy and Training (QUEST) Disaster Recovery Dislocated Worker Grant Award in the Amount of $731,000. The award will be used to fund training activities for dislocated workers in key regional high demand industries. The City serves as the fiduciary agent for the ten-county region.

Description

The City of Savannah has received a “Statement of Grant Award” through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act for a WorkSource Quality Jobs, Equity, Strategy and Training (QUEST) Disaster Recovery (COVID-19) Dislocated Worker Grant in the amount of $731,000 from the Technical College System of Georgia, Office of Workforce Development to be administered by WorkSource Coastal. The award will be used to fund training activities for dislocated workers in key regional high demand industries such as Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare, Construction, Hospitality and Warehousing/Logistics. The grant period is from September 26, 2022 through September 30, 2024. The WorkSource Coastal QUEST Grant will serve Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Screven counties. 

Pursuant to the WorkSource Coastal Consortium Agreement, the City of Savannah serves as the fiduciary agent for the ten-county region and, as such, City Council approval and authorization for the City Manager to receive grant funding and enter into grant administration agreements is necessary in accordance with the City of Savannah's procurement policies and procedures.
