Title
Motion to Approve Contract Modification No. 1 for Neighborhood Signs to Sign D'Sign (Event No. 4854)
Description

Recommend approval of Contract Modification No. 1 to Sign D’Sign in the amount of $2,800.00.

The original contract was for the installation of six masonry neighborhood entryway signs. The signs were to be constructed at the entrances to the Cann Park, Summerside, Twickenham, Tremont Park, and Feiler Terrace neighborhoods. Two signs were constructed for the Feiler Terrace Neighborhood at two separate locations (at 51st and Hopkins Streets and at 51st Street and Edwin Street). The third sign was constructed for the Cann Park neighborhood at the entrance located in the median of 47th Street and Hopkins Street. The fourth sign is located in the Summerside neighborhood west of Clinch Street and Hopkins Street. The fifth sign is located on an empty lot on Ogeechee Road between Corvair Avenue and Overland Avenue. The sixth sign for Twickenham neighborhood was constructed near Gobel Avenue and Hawthorne Street.

This modification is needed to repair the existing planter around the Summerside monument sign. The work includes rebuilding the front portion of the planter, and reworking the ground and foundation to prevent the planter from settling. This work also includes reworking the corners that have exposed holes in the brick so that no holes will be visible.

The original contract was approved by Council on March 30, 2017 in the amount of $53,257.47. The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $56,057.47. The second low and only other bidder was Dabbs-Williams General Contractors, which submitted pricing in the amount of $115,000.00. This modification could not have been foreseen by either bidder.
