Title
34. Motion to Procure Control System Repairs from Southeastern Air Conditioning for the Northwest Police Precinct (Event No. 6540)
Strategic Priority
Infrastructure
Description

Recommend approval to procure repair services for the control system at the Northwest Police Precinct facility from Southeastern Air Conditioning in the amount of $48,700.00.

The control system currently in the building is not functioning, and parts to repair this system are obsolete. The current system is more than 25 years old and controls the heat to all the offices located in the building. The building currently has no heat due to the system not functioning. These controls regulate the heat to all the offices and open areas by opening and closing electronic valves.

Per the lease, the City is to maintain and repair the HVAC system, and the landlord shall replace it if it can no longer be repaired and maintained. The HVAC automation and zone control system is obsolete and can no longer be repaired or serviced.  This system controls the distribution of heat in the building.

Staff is in negotiations with landlord regarding this matter.  However, to ensure a safe and comfortable work environment in the building in the event landlord fails to respond in a timely manner, staff is seeking approval to acquire a replacement system.
