Recommend approval of Contract Amendment No. 1 with Perkins + Will for design of a precast structured parking deck on the north elevation of the new Arena in the amount of $269,000.

The original contract was for base, exterior and interior design of the Arena, in addition to surrounding site and road design. This amendment is necessary to allow Perkins + Will to design structured parking of up to 500 spaces, which was not included in the original scope but will be vital to the operations and patrons of the Arena. It is critical to retain Perkins + Will as the parking deck architect, as this facility will be connected to the Arena.

The additional services will include all architectural, structural engineering, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services, in addition to signage, parking technology, and the functional design of the parking deck. The target will be 500 spaces, though Perkins + Will will work with the City to identify the final count and design of the parking structure.

The contract was originally approved by Council on June 21, 2018, in the amount of $8,820,000. The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $9,089,000.
