Title
46. Motion to Authorize the City Manager to Procure HVAC Units from Johnson-Laux Construction in the Amount of $128,934.71 (Event No. 7521)
Strategic Priority
N/A
Description

Recommend approval to authorize the City Manager to procure HVAC units for the Moses Jackson Community Center from Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC in the amount of $128,934.71. Over the past few years we have had problems with these HVAC units as they age. The heating tubes have rusted to the point they may not work and cannot be repaired. When this happens the building has no heat. The two old units that are in need of replacing are approximately 20 plus years old. The two new units will be installed by our approved state contractor Johnson – Laux. The scope of work will be to replace the two old units with new 25ton package units. The two new units will include dehumidification circuits, fresh air intake damper and a complete duct cleaning.

The State of Georgia’s job order contractor will be used to perform this project to meet time constraints and City ordinance requirements. The State of Georgia’s job order contract is considered a convenience contract that is available for use by all State, City, and County public entities. The purpose of this contract is to provide multi-traded general construction services to accomplish small to medium sized projects for repair, alteration, modernization, rehabilitation, and minor new construction to infrastructure, buildings, structures, or other real property. The State of Georgia used a competitive bidding procedure to select Johnson-Laux Construction to serve as the sole provider of these services for this region.
