Petitioner Dana F. Braun, attorney for the Housing Authority of Savannah, is requesting portions of Reid Street and Edinburgh Street be declared as surplus and available for sale to the adjacent property owner, (the Housing Authority of Savannah).
 

According to O.C.G.A. 32-7-1, a municipality possesses the authority to declare surplus unneeded right-of-ways and offer such surplus property for sale to adjacent owners. If approved, these current right-of-ways would provide for additional land needed to facilitate continuing redevelopment of the Edgar Blackshear Homes on Wheaton Road. The petition has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney, Public Works and Water Resources, and Real Estate Services.

Recommend to declare surplus a portion of Reid Street and Edinburgh Street surplus and available for sale to the Housing Authority of Savannah at appraised market value. Further request authorization for the City Manager to execute deeds and associated closing documents.
