15. Authorize the City Manager to Procure Furniture for Interchange Court in Care of Mason, Inc., in the Amount of $962,045.68. This will Provide Tables, Desks, Chairs, Cabinets, and Equipment for the new 150,000 square feet of Offices at Interchange Court to House 250 Employees of Streets, Traffic, Stormwater, Parks, and Urban Forestry. (Existing Equipment will be Re-Used as much as Possible.)

Description

Recommend approval to procure office furniture from Allseating Corp, HON Company, JSI, National Office Furniture, SitOnIt Seating and Egan, through Mason, Inc., in the amount of $962,046. This furniture will support the administrative and programming functions of the Administration Building and three (3) operations buildings, part of the new facilities at Interchange Court.   These purchases include items such as desks, office chairs, storage and filing components, conference and training tables, and multipurpose chairs.

Allseating Corp, HON Company, JSI, National Office Furniture, SitOnIt Seating and Egan are approved vendors under the Georgia’s statewide approved contracts program.  These statewide contracts are established for convenience and are available for use by all State and Local public entities. The State of Georgia used a competitive bidding process to select Allseating Corp, HON Company, JSI, National Office Furniture, SitOnIt Seating and Egan to serve as a provider for these commodities.  Mason Inc. will oversee the ordering, delivery, and installation of the furniture.  

The City plans to use and repurpose existing furniture for staff use where appropriate.  The plan includes leaving furniture in existing facilities as vacated buildings are repurposed for other staff use. Existing furniture will be assessed and anything that is found to be in poor condition or residual to the City’s needs will be disposed of through our personal property disposition process.  Installation of the furnishings is scheduled to occur in August/September of 2021.

The facilities at Interchange Court project is nearing completion.  The project site is located at 14 Interchange Court. The new complex includes construction of eight buildings comprising more than 150,000 square feet of space, which provides office space for nearly 250 employees. The facilities include an administrative building, an operations building, a renovated warehouse, a street sweeper building, vehicle fueling and washing facilities, enclosed and open-air storage facilities, and employee and visitor parking.

The new facilities will replace aged Infrastructure and Development facilities, and provide a new Central Warehouse. The project will consolidate City permitting services under one roof, and make the site of the current City Lot at Gwinnett Street & Stiles Avenue available for use in support of the Arena Project.
