Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

City staff have negotiated three comprehensive intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) with the Board of Public Education (Board) to govern the shared use of recreation facilities within each government entity’s portfolio. One agreement governs the shared use of 31 City-owned fields/courts/facilities and 30 Board-owned fields/courts/facilities. A second agreement governs the shared use of pools, while a third agreement governs the use of community centers developed on Board properties. These are revenue neutral agreements with no charges being assessed among the parties unless special services are requested. These agreements are evidence of a productive collaboration between the City and Board to leverage existing facilities and provide shared use to generate cost-efficient value to the public. The IGAs have already been approved by the Board.

Request approval of the three IGAs between the City of Savannah and the Board of Public Education to provide shared use of recreation facilities, and further recommend authorization for the City Manager to execute and manage the IGAs.
