Description

Recommend approval of Contract Amendment No. 1 for the Neighborhood Resource Center with Rives E. Worrell a JE Dunn Company in the amount of $6,076,272.00.

The 18,960-square-foot, two-story facility will be located at 425 Pennsylvania Avenue. Included in the programming are staff offices, a 2,000-square-foot multi-purpose room that can be divided into two separately functioning spaces, a fitness room, art classroom, game room, a computer lab, teaching classrooms including one designed for computer training, rooms for wellness activities, a serving kitchen and café, and a commercial-style kitchen for teaching culinary arts.

The original contract was for Progressive Design-Build Phase I services for the Neighborhood Resource Center.  This amendment is needed to enter into the Phase II Agreement with Rives E. Worrell a JE Dunn Company under the existing Progressive Design-Build Contract for the Pennsylvania Avenue Resource Center.  The agreement is based on the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) provided by Rives E. Worrell which was developed under the Phase I services of the contract.  

The agreement is equal to $6,076,272.00. and will provide a finished facility ready for use.  Specific services included under this agreement will include final design and permitting, site and building construction, construction administration, and project close-out.  Rives E. Worrell a JE Dunn Company has submitted proposed DBE participation in the amount of 16%.

The original contract was approved by Council on June 9, 2016 in the amount of $476,545.00.  The total amount of this contract to date, including this amendment is $6,552,817.00.
