Recommend approval to procure six rear loader chassis from Crane Carrier Company in the amount of $980,274.00.  These rear loader chassis will be used by the Residential Refuse Department to replace six units in the daily operation of curbside pick-up.  

This is a sole source because in 1999 the City standardized on the Crane Carrier chassis for refuse trucks. These are the only available chassis which allow the cab to sit low to the ground providing easy access with a walk-through design. These features reduce staff injuries and provide a more ergonomic interior with increased crew seating. Standardizing on one chassis reduces parts inventory and maintenance costs.
