Recommend approval to procure an aerial ladder truck from Sutphen Corporation in the amount of $1,298,000.00.  The aerial ladder truck will be used by the Savannah Fire Rescue Department to provide support on structural fires within the service area.  Replacement is due to operational needs resulting from the removal of two aerial trucks with catastrophic failures in 2018. 

As a result of these two failures, Savannah Fire Rescue purchased a replacement ladder truck in 2018, and utilized a rental ladder truck on a temporary basis.  The rental was terminated in December 2018 after funding was identified for the purchase of a new ladder truck the FY2019 budget.  This action will bring the Savannah Fire Apparatus Replacement Plan for ladder trucks to the scheduled level of readiness for FY 2020.  This purchase is in line with the City’s Strategic Plan and top priority of providing public safety to our citizens.  Upon delivery, the Savannah Fire Rescue Department will be able to fully provide the Standards of Cover for continued uninterrupted service delivery across the City.
