Description

Motion to approve Contract Modification No. 1 with Johnson-Laux Construction in the amount of $46,143.02. 

The original contract was for the construction of a new central police precinct of 13,300 square feet located at 1710 Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard.  This modification is needed due to the various cost increases and credits due to unforeseen construction conditions and minor scope changes.  These increases and credits include the following:

  • Credit for parking lot gate arms
  • Credit for data raceway
  • Credit for concrete at the entrance vestibule cast stone column piers
  • Credit for blackout shades in the CIP Room
  • Credit for the fire cabinet in Intox and cuff rings in the Interview Room
  • Credit for reduction in the amount of dental molding around the high roof
  • Add for exterior framing, change in metal stud gauge
  • Add for custom paint color for canopies
  • Add for change in light fixtures under canopies
  • Add for additional data and electrical outlets in the charging room
  • Add for wall furring within the women’s restroom
  • Add for installation of owner-provided Versa Boxes
  • Add for additional brick support required

The original contract was approved by Council on March 15, 2018 in the amount of $4,407,306.91.  The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $4,453,449.93 which represents a 1.01% increase from the original contract amount.
