Title
36. Motion to Procure a Small Steam Sterilizer from Steris Corporation (Event No. 7004)
Strategic Priority
Infrastructure
Description

Recommend approval to procure a small steam sterilizer from Steris Corporation in the amount of $39,501.66. The sterilizer will be used by the Public Works and Water Resources Department to replace one of the existing AMSCO steam autoclaves.  The sterilizer will work in conjunction with the City's other existing AMSCO steam autoclaves.  The autoclaves will be able to share spare parts and be on the same service/maintenance contract.  The steam autoclaves are used to sterilize microbiological testing materials and decontaminate contaminated microbiological testing materials.  Microbiological testing is required to ensure the safety of the drinking water and meet State and Federal regulations.

This is a sole source because Steris Corporation is the original provider of the AMSCO steam autoclaves.  It is critical to have maintenance from the original provider to ensure knowledgeable support of the autoclaves.
