Strategic Priority
Infrastructure
Description

Recommend approval to renew an annual contract for thermoplastic pavement marking installation services with Peek Pavement Markings, LLC for up to  $300,000. This annual contract is used by the Mobility Services Department for the installation of pavement markings for lane, center and edge lines for streets, as well as crosswalks, stop bars and lane arrows at intersections.  One of the most important aspects of a safe and efficient roadway is the uniform application of pavement markings to delineate the roadway path and specific traffic lanes. Pavement markings can communicate information to road users like no other traffic control device. They provide continuous information to road users related to the roadway alignment, vehicle positioning, and other important driving-related tasks.

Fees for these services vary based on marking type and length (per liner foot). The total amount spent in 2020 was $153,286.  The increase this year is due to an increasing need for repairs and restriping of aging streets.

This contract was originally approved by Council on September 28, 2017. This is the third of three renewal options available.
