The Waters Avenue Phase III Streetscape Project is for the construction of a new streetscape along Waters Avenue between 37th Street and Victory Drive Right-of-Way.

Description

This is for a construction contract for Phase III of the Waters Avenue revitalization project with Johnson-Laux, LLC (LOCAL, DBE) in the amount of $1,162,336.24. 

 

The Waters Avenue Phase III Streetscape Project is for the construction of a new streetscape along Waters Avenue between 37th Street and Victory Drive Right-of-Way (ROW). This will be the final phase of the Waters Avenue Streetscape project. The major work components included demolition, new sidewalk with concrete banding, new stamped concrete crosswalks, landscaping, striping, and decorative lighting provided by Georgia Power. Johnson-Laux was also the contractor for Phase I and Phase II of the project. Phase I was completed in 2016 and was for the section from 37th Street to Anderson Street. Phase II of the project was completed in 2019 and was for the section from Anderson Street to Wheaton Street.  
 

 

The State of Georgia’s job order contract will be used to perform this project to meet time constraints and City ordinance requirements. The State of Georgia’s job order contract is considered a convenience contract that is available for use by all State, City, and County public entities. The purpose of this contract is to provide multi-traded general construction services to accomplish small to medium sized projects for repair, alteration, modernization, rehabilitation, renovation and minor new construction to infrastructure, buildings, structures, or other real property. The State of Georgia used a competitive bidding procedure to select contractors to perform these services for this project. 
 

 

The State contractor, Johnson- Laux Construction, LLC has committed to meet the 20% DBE goal including a 10% LDBE goal set for this project.
