Petitioner Cathy Stallings has requested that the 500 block of East Liberty Lane be made one-way eastbound for more effective traffic flow and to preserve access to homes that front the lane. The petition has support from surrounding property owners.

The Traffic Engineering Department has reviewed the petition, and determined multiple, simultaneous deliveries to Smith Brothers Butcher Shop are a regular occurrence, and block access for carriage house residents. At least one collision has resulted from large vehicles attempting to maneuver in opposite directions along the lane.

First reading of this proposed ordinance was held during the Meeting of March 1, 2018. Recommend that Liberty Lane be established as a one-way roadway eastbound from Price Street to East Broad Street. Sanitation and Savannah Fire are in agreement with this recommendation.

This requires an amendment to Code of the City of Savannah, Part 7-1027, Appendix I, Section 211. One-way Streets. (a) Generally
