Recommend approval to procure demolition services from Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC in the amount of $80,915.95 to clear rights of way for the DeLesseps Road Widening Project. This project, managed by the Mobility Services Department, consists of widening the existing roadway to include bike lanes, curb and gutter and sidewalks.  As part of the project frame work agreement between the City of Savannah and the Georgia Department of Transportation, the City is responsible for acquiring the right of way and demolishing structures within the acquired right of way. The City will utilize a cooperative purchasing agreement with Sourcewell (formally National Joint Powers Alliance) and the State of Georgia. Through this cooperative, the contract was competitively bid and awarded to Johnson-Laux Construction. It included a one-year term with multiple renewal options and expires on July 20, 2020. Cooperative purchasing is authorized as an appropriate procurement method in Division 10 Section 4-4152 of the City of Savannah’s purchasing ordinance. This event has a DBE goal of 20% of which half (10%) must be met by a local DBE. The recommended vendor, Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC, submitted DBE participation at the subcontractor level in the amount of 20%, using B and B Demolition and Contractors, Inc. (Savannah, GA).
