June 8, 2017 City Council Regular Meeting
Motion to Approve Resolution Imposing a Temporary Stay on Short-Term Vacation Rental Registration

The resolution would impose a 90-day stay on processing new applications for registration of short-term vacation rentals. (Request of Alderman Bill Durrence)

City staff is in the process of working with stakeholders to formulate proposed revisions to the short term vacation rental ordinance consistent with its stated intent and purpose of protecting the public health, safety and general welfare of individuals and the community at large; monitoring and providing reasonable means for citizens to mitigate impacts created by the occupancy of short term vacation rental units; and implementing rationally based, reasonably tailored regulations to protect the integrity of the city’s neighborhoods. A report on the process and recommendations shall be submitted by staff to the City Manager on June 16, 2017. Mayor and Aldermen will address recommendations contained in the report during the City Council Meeting on July 6, 2017.
