Dr. Cheryl Davenport Dozier, who took office in 2011, is the 13th president of Savannah State University (SSU).  Since taking office, she has advanced the university's mission of developing productive members of a global society through high quality instruction, scholarship, research, service, and community involvement.  Her vision was to move students from "matriculation to graduation."  With her motto of "One SSU," Dr. Dozier has been firmly committed to advancing the legacy of excellence established when SSU was founded in 1890.  Dr. Dozier is set to retire June 30, 2019.

The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah would like to congratulate Dr. Dozier and wish her well in her retirement.
