Recommend approval of a construction contract with Daktronics in the amount of $780,577 to fabricate and install a marquee sign on Gwinnett Street near the entrance to the Arena Parking Lot and a smaller sign on Stiles Avenue on the site of the Arena.

The marquee signs are included within the Arena Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) budget, and the signs' support structures have been designed as gateways into the arena district, with brick and metal panels that match materials in the new Arena. The signs will be digital with LED displays to advertise upcoming Arena events and community information. One sign will be located on Gwinnett Street near the entrance to the Arena Parking Lot, and will be roughly 36 feet tall with a 12-foot-wide digital display. The second sign will be located on Stiles Avenue on the Arena site, and will be roughly 32 feet tall, with a 9-foot-7-inch digital display. 

The price includes the design and fabrication of the signs, foundations and all work associated with the installation. The sign will have a mobile-optimized, cloud-based control that will allow the operator to manage the digital displays from anywhere.

This purchase is the second of five planned packages of FF&E items that will be procured by the City for the arena over the next six months, comprising more than 2,000 items grouped into several large packages. This includes purchase of furniture, lighting, electronics, maintenance and office equipment, and other items not part of the construction contract. The FF&E packages include:

The marquee signs purchase will be made using Sourcewell Contract No. 050819 Effective 07/08/2019-07/08/2023.

Per Section 2-4154 of the City’s Purchasing Ordinance, the City may purchase goods or services through the use of a corporative contract.

The contract used for this procurement is a Sourcewell contract. It was competitively bid by Sourcewell.
