Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

Recommend approval to award an annual contract for pest control services from McCall Service Inc. in the estimated amount of $50,000.  The Facilities Maintenance and Operations Division is recommending the low bidder to service all pest control needs for the City of Savannah’s facilities. These facilities include Police, Fire, general office areas, warehouses, and all other City facilities. The contractor must furnish all chemicals, rodenticides, insecticides, equipment, and labor.

Service must include clean out and control of rats, mice, roaches, weevils, bed bugs, lice, fleas, ants, silverfish, wasps, crickets, spiders (including black widows), scorpions, bees, mites, carpet beetles, and moths inside buildings and immediately surrounding the exterior of all buildings and at outdoor pavilions.

The agreement does not include treatment of trees, lawns, or shrubs. All buildings must be inspected and treated at least one time each month or more, as may be required, at no additional cost to the City for the eradication and preventative control of above named rodents, arachnids, and insects. The contractor must respond within an eight hour period for special calls for control of infestation at no additional charge. Additionally, the contractor must inspect each facility for termites at least one time each year. If termites are detected, the contractor shall notify the City. A termite bond is not required. This agreement does not include the eradication of termites and the City may contract this service for treatment separately.

This project was not identified as an SBE project because the requirement of three certified SBEs could not be met at the time this bid was released.

The contract term shall be from June 20, 2019 through December 31, 2020.
