Title
56. Motion to Authorize the City Manager to Renew an Annual Contract for Utility Rings and Covers with Ferguson Waterworks in the Estimated Amount of $168,346.92 (Event No. 3791)
Strategic Priority
Infrastructure
Description

Recommend approval to renew an annual contract to Ferguson Waterworks in the estimated amount of $168,346.92 for utility access rings and covers.  The utility access rings and covers will be utilized by the Public Works and Water Resources Department to keep sanitary sewer collection systems free of extraneous inflow and infiltration.  This is accomplished by preventing rain water from entering the system.

This action will reduce overflowing at utility access covers, and also reduce the amount of waste water being pumped to the Water Reclamation facilities.  In addition, the Water Distribution Unit replaces utility access rings and covers to keep all existing valve utility access covers free of defects for safe pedestrian and vehicular traffic.  The rings and covers are maintained in inventory at the Central Warehouse.

This is the final of three renewal options.  Bids were originally received on January 19, 2016.  Council originally approved this contract on February 2, 2017 in the amount of $112,231.28.

The contract term shall be from June 20, 2019 through December 31, 2020.
