COUNCIL WORK SESSION & CITY MANAGER'S BRIEFING

JANUARY 28, 2021 – 4:00 p.m.

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the City Council Work Session and City Manager’s Briefing was held via Zoom video communications at 4:02 p.m. Following the roll call, Mayor Johnson introduced Mayor Pro-Tem Dr. Shabazz to offer the invocation.

PRESENT:  Mayor Van R. Johnson, II, Presiding

Alderwoman Kesha Gibson-Carter, At-Large, Post 1, Chairman

Alderwoman Alicia Miller Blakely, At-Large, Post 2

Alderwoman Bernetta B. Lanier, District 1

Alderman Detric Leggett, District  2

Alderwoman Linda Wilder-Bryan, District 3

Alderman Nick Palumbo, District 4, Vice-Chairman

Alderwoman Dr. Estella Edwards Shabazz, District 5, Mayor Pro-Tem

Alderman Kurtis Purtee, District 6

OTHERS PRESENT:

Acting City Manager Michael B. Brown

City Attorney Bates Lovett

Clerk of Council Mark Massey

Mayor Pro-Tem Dr. Shabazz moved to close the work session and hold a closed Executive Session regarding personnel and real estate (Fairgrounds Property Development), Alderwoman Lanier seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

The Executive Session began at 4:05 p.m.

Written comment(s):

Dr. Patricia M. Harris and 5^th District Coalition – Raised concerns (Fairgrounds Property Development)

Mayor Pro-Tem Dr. Shabazz moved to close the Executive Session, Alderwoman Wilder-Bryan seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

The Executive Session ended at 6:26 p.m.

There was no action taken during the Executive Session.

Discussion held during the Executive Session.

Mayor Johnson adjourned the work session and advised the Regular Meeting will begin shortly at 6:30 p.m.
