Description

Notification of an emergency purchase to repair the recreational docs at Rousakis Plaza with Myrick Marine in the amount of $103,147.

The recreational dock was damaged at the junction of two interior waler beams from a log wedged at the middle of a float. The waler beams at the impacted location were completely broken; the floats to the east were still suspended partially above the log while the floats to the west were floating on the water. This caused damage to five floats. Four of the floats needed immediate replacement and the fifth float is being monitored for evidence of any continued deterioration. This assessment was completed by a licensed engineer. The lead time to manufacture new dock sections is over 12 weeks and the dock is currently out of service. The dock needs to be connected in order to perform properly and the damaged sections put the remaining good dock sections at risk for damage. Five new dock sections have been ordered and Myrick will install them along with the hardware including the walers, fenders, and hardware. Myrick has installed docks for City projects in the past. They have the equipment, expertise, and insurance to do the work. The fifth float was included in case it warranted replacement after further observation. If it was not ordered and it required replacement, it would take another 12 weeks minimum for replacement, the dock would remain closed, and would be subject to further damage while the fifth float is being manufactured.
