11. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract for Two (2) Savannah Police Department (SPD) Pursuit Vehicles with Santee Automotive, LLC in the Amount of $120,557. The pursuit vehicles will be utilized by the SPD Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T) unit and outfitted with law enforcement-grade materials including sirens, lights, and exterior body wraps. Description

This contract is for the procurement of two (2) Savannah Police Department (SPD) pursuit vehicles from Santee Automotive, LLC in the amount of $120,557. The pursuit vehicles will be utilized by the Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T) unit and outfitted with law enforcement-grade materials including sirens, lights, and exterior body wraps. The H.E.A.T unit’s purpose is to combat traffic fatalities and incidents, educate drivers about traffic regulations, reduce impaired driving, and reinforce driver safety. They interact with the community through educational presentations at local schools and community engagements.

 

This acquisition is a 100% grant funded through the HEAT Grant, awarded by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). There is no cost to the City of Savannah to either match the grant and/or purchase these vehicles. This acquisition will forward SPD’s effort to target and enforce highway safety and traffic regulations. 

 

Per section 2-4152 of the City’s Purchasing Ordinance, the City may purchase goods or services using a cooperative contract. The South Carolina Division of Procurement Services state contract used for this procurement is Santee Automotive, LLC, contract #4400029870 for Vehicles Goods and Services, which will expire on September 12, 2024.
