Description

Chatham Area Transit (CAT) St. Patrick's Festival Public Transportation Memorandum of Understanding.  CAT will provide transportation options to festival goers outside the historic downtown area.

A daytime shuttle service will operate from 7:00AM - 4:00PM on March, 16, 2019 from three locations: Westside Shopping Center located on State Highway 80, Island Towne Centre located on State Highway 80 on Whitemarsh Island and Savannah Mall located on Abercorn Extension.

In addition, a fare-free fixed-route service and paratransit services will be provided all day Friday, March 15, 2019 and Saturday, March 16, 2019.  St. Patrick’s Day shuttle services and the Airport Express (Route 100X) will still require fares.

The City will pay CAT a flat fee of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) to cover operational expenses for the daytime shuttle service and fare-free fixed route service on March 15th and 16th. Any unforeseen losses above $15,000 will be the responsibility of CAT.

Detailed costs of these service fees are as follows:

      a. Operational cost to run daytime Shuttle Service (March 16, 2019): $5,000

      b. CAT fixed-route fare-free sponsorship (March 15 & 16, 2019): $10,000

The Memorandum of Understanding has been reviewed by Risk Management and the City Attorney's Office for legal form.
