13. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract for Three Forklifts with Octane Forklifts, Inc. in the Amount of $98,466. The three forklifts will be utilized by the Water Reclamation, Industrial and Domestic Water, and Fleet Services Departments. Two of the units are replacements, one is a new fleet addition.

Description

Recommend approval to purchase three forklifts from Octane Forklifts, Inc. in the amount of $98,466.

The Water Reclamation, Industrial and Domestic Water, and Fleet Services Departments will use the forklifts to load and unload parts and supplies.

The forklift for Water Reclamation is an FY 21 fleet addition for the new Travis Field plant and will be funded out of account number 521.2554.51730.

The forklifts for the Industrial and Domestic Water, and Fleet Services Department will be relacing unit numbers #1108 and 4820 which have reached the end of their useful life and are no longer economical to maintain. The two forklifts will be funded out of account number 613.9230.51515.

Octane Forklifts, Inc. was not the lowest bidder but they were the only bidder able to meet all the requirements of the bid specifications. The other bidders were not selected due to their inability to meet the requirement of line item 4.2 of the bid specifications, which states the forklifts must be dual fuel and able to run on gasoline and LPG.  Octane Forklifts, Inc. was deemed the lowest qualified bidder.

This event was sent out as event number 8765 as a Savannah First event. The City of Savannah did not receive any bids from local City of Savannah vendors. The event was then released again to invite all vendors to bid.

The bid was advertised, opened, and reviewed. Delivery: As needed. Terms: Net 30 days. The bidders were:
