Title
44. Motion to Adopt Resolution Supporting Designation of Savannah as an Information Technology Corridor, as Recommended by the Senate IT Corridors Study Committee
Description

In December 2017, the Senate Information Technology Corridors Study Committee published a report that recommended Savannah and Augusta as areas to establish information technology corridors within the State of Georgia. Specifically, the Committee recommended that a program be developed in Savannah focused on “logistics technology innovation” to further develop the area’s growing Ports-related economy.

Technology Corridors have been used by other states to provide funds and incentives to allow for better marketing of areas naturally leading their sectors, and to focus funding on corridor-related infrastructure, as well as educational and workforce development initiatives.

This resolution supports the Study Committee’s recommendations, and urges the General Assembly to move forward with this initiative by creating an advisory committee to develop specific IT Corridor programs and incentives for technology growth.
