Description

Recommend approval to procure 29 replacement radios for the City of Savannah Police Department from Motorola Solutions in the amount of $179,874.

The Information Technology’s Mobile Services Unit is purchasing the equipment to replace existing radios that are aging and are no longer in production. The intent of the Radio Replacement Fund is to provide funding for the replacement of radios annually. The older radios are repurposed for use by various Public Works departments. This is the only portable radio series that supports Motorola’s enhanced data which is used to geo-locate officers by utilizing the radio’s built in GPS receiver. The equipment can be programmed remotely.

This is a sole source procurement due to Motorola being the original supplier of the equipment that are currently in use by the City and County for all radio communications for Public Safety and Public Works operations. The system contains proprietary software and hardware available only through Motorola. It is critical to have maintenance and support from the original provider to ensure authorized, knowledgeable, and timely vendor support, and all devices can operate on the same currency frequency channels.
Delivery: As needed. Terms: Net 30 days. The vendor is:
