Strategic Priority
Neighborhood Revitalization
Description

Recommend approval to procure construction services from Johnson-Laux Construction in the amount of $1,555,290.19. These services, funded with voter-approved SPLOST, will be used by the Office of Capital Projects Management to complete streetscape improvements on Waters Avenue between Anderson and Wheaton streets, which comprises Phase 2 of the Waters Avenue Streetscape Project.  The major work components include demolition, new sidewalks with concrete banding, new stamped concrete crosswalks, striping, and decorative lighting provided by Georgia Power.

The State of Georgia’s job order contractor will be used to perform this project to meet time constraints and City ordinance requirements. The State of Georgia’s job order contract is considered a convenience contract that is available to all State, City, and County public entities.  The purpose of this contract is to provide multi-traded general construction services to accomplish small to medium sized projects for repair, alteration, modernization, rehabilitation, and minor new construction to infrastructure, buildings, structures, or other real property.  The State of Georgia used a competitive bidding procedure to select Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC to serve as the sole provider of these services for this region.

The recommended proposer submitted DBE participation in the total amount of 19% using Clifton Construction(C) in the amount of 13% and Atlantic Star Design LLC(C) in the amount of 6%.
