| Description Recommend approval to purchase lump sum cancer benefit coverage for firefighters from Georgia Municipal Association in the amount of $42,000. Recently enacted House Bill 146 requires that all legally organized fire departments in Georgia provide certain cancer benefits to their firefighters effective January 1, 2018. Because this law is new, the Georgia Municipal Association has developed a solution for Georgia cities that need this coverage, which provides financial protection to firefighters and their families in the event they contract cancer. This is a sole source because the Georgia Municipal Association is the only entity offering this program at this time. The cost of this policy is fully paid by the City of Savannah. | |
