Strategic Priority
Neighborhood Revitalization
Description

Paul P. Hinchey, President and CEO of St. Joseph’s/Candler Health Systems, along with fellow St. Joseph's/Candler executives, are presenting a check for $15,000 to the Mayor and Aldermen. This marks the sixth consecutive year that St. Joseph's/Candler has supported the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund. These crucial investments provide tangible results for both St. Joseph’s/Candler and the City of Savannah. Officials from the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund Advisory Committee and the Community Housing Services Agency will also be participating in the presentation. St. Joseph's/Candler has invested a total of $75,000 into the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund. These contributions have provided the down payment necessary for 19 modest-wage hospital employees to purchase their first home in the City of Savannah. This public/private partnership serves as an exemplary model for other Savannah area employers.

Over the last eight years, the locally controlled public and private investments into the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund have helped to leverage additional resources into our community. This Public/Private Partnership serves as an exemplary model for other financial institutions in Savannah. Since 2012, the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund has provided $16.4 million of assistance to local families seeking better housing including fulfilling the American dream of owning and maintaining a home. A motion to formally accept this donation appears on the consent agenda.
