Recommend approval of Contract Modification No. 1 for electrical repair services with Aiken Harper Electrical in the Amount of $500,000.

This contract is used by all City Department who are in need electrical services for City facilities, such as those for City Buildings and Grounds, the 203 operating sanitary sewer lift (pump) stations, both water well supply and treatment plant, all water reclamation facilities and plants and other City facilities as needed. The impacts of this action and specifically this contract will be and has been to keep effective electrical operations through repairs, maintenance and replacement as needed to City facilities to assure city services (i.e., water and sewer) to residents, institutions, commercial businesses and industries in the City Service Area.  Electrical maintenance and repair is vital to assure City operations and services.

The modification is needed to cover the following work:

(1) Completion of standby power generator installations for the City’s IT fiberoptics network and critical event operations at SPD facility on Edwin Street, funded by a FEMA Grant expiring on April 6, 2022.

(2) On-going rehabilitation of wastewater conveyance lift stations.

(3) Replacement of Mission 3G monitoring systems for sanitary sewer system with LTE and 5G technology, as 3G will be discontinued and unavailable as of mid-February 2022.

This contract renewal was originally approved by Council on March 11, 2021, in the amount of $697,570, the total amount of the contract for 2021-2022 with this modification will be $1,197,570.
