34. Motion to Award Construction Contract for Dean Forest Landfill to Baker Constructors, Inc. (Event No. 6025)

Description

Recommend approval to procure construction services from Baker Constructors, Inc. in the amount of $27,495,831.75. The construction services will be used to expand the Dean Forest Road landfill to provide efficient and adequate solid waste disposal for the residents of Savannah.

The planned expansion has been approved by the State of Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division and meets Federal and State design standards. The project will entail construction of a 2.8-million cubic yard disposal facility with a composite liner and leachate containment, conveyance infrastructure, and environmental monitoring systems. The facility is necessary to support City operations and has a projected service life of 13.67 years

Four contractors were pre-qualified to submit bids for this event, and bids were received from each.

This project was assigned an 18% goal. The Office of Business Opportunity deemed the recommended proposer compliant with this goal.The recommended bidder submitted DBE participation in the amount of 25.45% using the following subcontractors: Lane Lee in the amount of 10.9% and Scott & Sons Trucking in the amount of 14.55%.
