Motion to Accept PY2017 WIOA Youth Grant Awards
Description

The City of Savannah has received a “Statement of Grant Award” for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Youth Program from the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Workforce Division in the amount of $1,623,959, which will provide year-round youth programs for the period of April 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019 to low-income youth between the ages of 16 and 24. The Youth programs will include work experience, occupational skills training, alternative secondary school services, tutoring and supportive services. The PY17 Youth Grant Award was accepted by the Coastal Workforce Development Board Committee on June 23, 2017.

Below are the number of new enrollment youths to be served under the PY2017 contracts. Existing participants will also continue to be served. 

SIP: Chatham County 216 
Paxen: Camden/Glynn/McIntosh 212
Paxen: Bulloch/Effingham/Screven 126
Paxen: Bryan, Liberty, Long 98

Recommend acceptance of the grant award and approval to authorize the City Manager to enter into grant administration agreements with sub-grant recipients in accordance with the City of Savannah’s procurement policies and procedures.
