August 29, 2019, City Council Regular Meeting
Title
21. Motion to Adopt a Resolution Supporting Locally Established Building Design Standards for Residential Dwellings
Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

Georgia Municipal Association strongly recommends that all cities and counties pass a resolution in support of locally established design standards.  This resolution will send a message to our delegation that they should also oppose any 2020 legislation that may attack local design standards.

During the 2019 legislative session House Bill 302, attempted to prohibit cities and counties from regulating residential "building design elements" for single and double-family dwellings. If this legislation were to become law, local governments would be preempted from regulating local design standards on certain design and building elements.
