Title
19. Motion To Approve Annexation of 661.3 acres off Old River Road near Interstate 16
Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

The City of Savannah received an annexation petition for two parcels with an aggregate of approximately 661.3 acres located off Old River Road near Interstate 16. The parcels are owned by members of the Morgan family and the Savannah Economic Development Authority (SEDA). The land under petition is contiguous to existing City territory and therefore can be annexed by ordinance adopted by City Council. As required by State law, Chatham County has been informed of receipt of this petition.

Annexation is being sought by the owner to gain access to the municipal utilities provided by the City. The owner desires to gain access to these services on in-city terms. The cost of providing water and sewer service to the parcel will be fully covered by connection fees and service fees levied by the City for providing service. The proposed future use of the property is heavy industrial.
