Recommend approval to renew annual contract for senior meals with Senior Citizens Inc.in the amount of $426,930.00.This contract will be used by the City of Savannah to provide meals for the elderly in the community who exhibit an observed need for services and who meet eligibility criteria established by Title III-C-1 of the Federal Older Americans Act.

The congregate meals program provides 325 meals per day, for a total of 81,250 meals annually, at the City's Golden Age Centers and Adult Day Care programs . The program's goal is to alleviate poor eating habits and malnutrition which have long been recognized as problems faced by the elderly population.

The City will be reimbursed a total of $214,430.00 for these contract costs through State and Federal grant funds administered by Coastal Regional Commission, which is our Area Agency on Aging, Program participants are expected to donate another $60,000.00 for meals, lowering the total General Fund impact to $152,500.00

The contract term will be from August 17, 2017 through August 16, 2018.
