5. Appearance by Senior Citizens Inc. and the United Way of the Coastal Empire to Announce Senior Home Repair Partnership and Donation

Description

Senior Citizens President Patti Lyons, and United Way of the Coastal Empire President/CEO Deb Thompson, along with fellow United Way leadership executives, will announce a partnership to assist low-income, senior Savannah homeowners undertake minor home maintenance repairs. Senior Citizens Inc. will identify participants, and the United Way will seek volunteers to make repairs. 

The City's Housing & Neighborhood Services Department and the non-profit Community Housing Services Agency, Inc. will assist both organizations with the implementation of this initiative. As part of the partnership, Senior Citizens Inc. will donate $1,500, and United Way will donate $1,000, into the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF).  None of the investments made into the SAHF are used for administrative costs.  A motion to formally accept this donation appears in the resolution section of the agenda.
