Recommend approval to authorize the City Manager to procure firewall upgrades-external connection-data center from Layer3 Communications in the amount of $34,911.40. The firewall upgrades-external connection-data center will be used by the City of Savannah Department of Information Technology (DoIT) to upgrade the current firewall protection software. This software allows for a network security measure to be used to monitor and control the network traffic for the City of Savannah. This software is also an upgrade to our current firewall protection software. It will continue to monitor traffic based on pre-determined security rules. This procurement will include the hardware and software, 1 year of support, professional services, and advanced services.  This is a sole source because this software is available only from this source at this time. It is critical to have maintenance and support from the original provider to ensure authorized, knowledgeable, and timely vendor support when and if it is necessary.
