Recommend approval to secure sockets layer upgrades from Layer 3 Communications in the amount of $37,053.64.  The secure sockets layer upgrade will be used by the Department of Information Technology to upgrade the current Pulse software. This software allows the department to have remote access to City of Savannah computers throughout the network, while providing a measure of protection against viruses. This is a sole source because this equipment is only available from Layer 3 Communications.  It is critical to have maintenance and support from the original provider to ensure authorized, knowledgeable, and timely vendor support when and if it is necessary.
