Description

During the fiscal year, adjustments to the Revenue Ordinance are necessary to implement programs approved by the Mayor and Aldermen or recommended by staff. This amendment will implement fees for the Banner & Kiosk Program which is currently managed and administered by the City of Savannah.  Prior to 2018, the program was administered by the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority, which charged similar fees for this program. The 2018 Revenue Ordinance was adopted by Council on December 21, 2017.

The following addition will be incorporated into the 2018 Revenue Ordinance, Article X – Miscellaneous Fees.

ARTICLE X. MISCELLANEOUS FEES

Section 9 – BANNER & KIOSK PROGRAM FEES

  1. Kiosk Program: The City of Savannah maintains six public information kiosks, with two display panels per kiosk, located on Broughton Street between Lincoln Street and Montgomery Street. Any local, community-based organization wishing to display marketing material for a non-partisan, non-sectarian community event or activity will be charged per panel for a rental period of 30 days. The organization must submit a draft of the image to be displayed for staff approval. The organization will be responsible for installing and removing said material within the rental period.
  1. Banner Program: The City of Savannah maintains banner brackets which are attached to City-owned lampposts and poles located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Broughton Street. Any local, community-based organization wishing to display marketing material for a non-partisan, non-sectarian community event or activity will be charged per bracket for a rental period of 30 days. The organization must submit a draft of the image to be displayed for staff approval. The organization will be responsible for installing and removing said material within the rental period and for obtaining all necessary permits for access to the public right-of-way.
