Title
4. Appearance and Recognition of Galvan Foundation’s Donation of $50,000 to the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund.
Strategic Priority
Neighborhood Revitalization
Description

Galvan Foundation’s Vice President of Initiatives, Dan Kent, and Community Housing Services Agency, Inc.’s (CHSA) Executive Director, Anita Smith-Dixon, are presenting a $50,000 donation to the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah (City) for deposit into the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF). The Galvan Foundation is a New York non-profit with a mission to improve the quality of life through promotion of social equity and rehabilitating distressed historic buildings and neighborhoods to create spaces offering housing, education and employment opportunities, and supportive services. The Galvan Foundation studied the Housing Savannah Action Plan, which addresses Savannah’s unique housing affordability crisis, and inquired as to how the Foundation could be of assistance. This $50,000 donation was granted to CHSA as capital funds to help leverage other private and public funds for Savannah’s affordable housing needs. The SAHF is a local fund that helps leverage private investment to address local workforce and affordable housing needs and opportunities. The City of Savannah Housing and Neighborhood Services Department and the Community Housing Services Agency, Inc., a non-profit housing corporation, oversee the SAHF administration. A motion to formally accept this donation appears in the resolution section of the Agenda.
