The City of Savannah was awarded the Urban Forestry/Green Jobs grant in January 2018 for two years. The grant is to be used to implement equitable solutions to local climate change challenges. The goal of the Urban Forestry/Green Jobs grant is to engage the communities in the planning process and mutually benefit both the City of Savannah and the neighborhoods. 

The goals of the City of Savannah Urban Tree Nursery Project are:

• Engage Community Youth
• Enhance Workforce Skills
• Grow Our Urban Forest

This proclamation is in celebration of the Urban Tree Nursery to Green Jobs program and an opportunity to recognize the workforce training apprentices and local school district students who provided their artwork to the tree nursery sites, and the over 500 trees planted in the Savannah community.
