Description

On March 9th, the Georgia Department of Public Safety held their 2019 DPS Awards Ceremony at the Jekyll Island Convention Center.  At that ceremony, a state trooper who regularly patrols the streets and highways throughout Savannah and Chatham County was name the 2018 Georgia State Patrol Trooper of the Year.  TFC1 Seth Strickland from Post 42, Troop I graduated from the 99th Georgia State Patrol Trooper School on March 3, 2017.  Trooper Strickland has been a consistent top performer in his troop.  As a trooper assigned to a field post, Strickland set the bar high with his performance.  The results include:

  • 2,978 traffic stops
  • 2,903 citations
  • 1,991 warnings
  • 14 misdemeanor drug possession arrests
  • 2 felony drug possession arrests
  • 17 wanted fugitive arrests
  • 62 crash investigations
  • 90 motorist assists
  • 210 DUI arrests
